3. Why We Process Information

We may process personal data to create and administer accounts; perform identity verification; facilitate marketplace transactions and payment protection; provide support; maintain transaction records; prevent fraud and abuse; investigate disputes; enforce Platform rules; maintain security; process rewards; communicate about accounts and orders; comply with legal obligations; establish, exercise or defend legal claims; improve Platform functionality; measure performance; and send permitted marketing communications.

4. Legal Bases

Depending on the circumstances, processing may be based on performance of a contract, steps requested before entering a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests, consent where required, or another lawful basis available under applicable data-protection law.

5. KYC

WorkAbeg currently may conduct identity verification manually and authorized personnel may review submitted information. WorkAbeg may later use appropriate third-party identity-verification providers and will implement appropriate contractual, privacy and security safeguards and update disclosures where required.

6. Payment Information

Payments may be processed using third-party payment providers. WorkAbeg may receive transaction identifiers, payment status and related information needed to administer transactions without necessarily receiving all sensitive card or banking credentials. Payment providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy obligations.

7. Service Providers

WorkAbeg may use third parties supporting Platform operations, including payment processors, hosting/infrastructure providers, cloud/application services, notification infrastructure, email providers, security providers, professional advisers and future KYC providers.

WorkAbeg currently uses technologies/services including Firebase, Hostinger and Laravel-based infrastructure as components of its technology environment. Third-party services may change as the Platform develops.

8. Sharing Personal Data

WorkAbeg may disclose personal data where reasonably necessary to process transactions, provide Platform functionality, investigate fraud, resolve disputes, protect users, comply with lawful requests, enforce agreements, obtain professional advice or complete a legitimate corporate transaction. WorkAbeg does not sell personal information as a business model.

9. Information Shared Between Users

Marketplace transactions inherently require some information to be shared between participating users. Users must not misuse another user’s personal information or use information obtained through WorkAbeg for harassment, unsolicited marketing, identity theft, circumvention or unrelated purposes.

10. Cross-Border Processing

Some service providers or infrastructure used by WorkAbeg may process or store information outside Nigeria. Where Nigerian data-protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, WorkAbeg will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism and take reasonable steps to ensure required protection.

11. Retention

WorkAbeg retains personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, including account administration, transactions, disputes, fraud prevention, accounting, security, legal/regulatory obligations and establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Different categories may have different retention periods. Account deletion does not necessarily require immediate destruction of records WorkAbeg is legally required or permitted to retain.

12. Account Deletion

Users may request deletion of their accounts. Deletion may be delayed or limited because of an active order, outstanding payment, dispute, fraud investigation, chargeback, legal obligation, regulatory requirement, security need or establishment/defence of legal claims. Deletion does not extinguish obligations already incurred.

13. Data Protection Rights

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, individuals may have rights to obtain information about processing; access personal data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion; restrict certain processing; object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; and obtain data portability where applicable.

Requests may be sent to legal@workabeg.com. WorkAbeg may verify identity before fulfilling a request.

14. Security

WorkAbeg uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Platform and information processed. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for protecting credentials and reporting suspected compromise promptly.

15. Fraud and Safety

WorkAbeg may use account, transaction, device, communication and verification information to detect and investigate fraud, circumvention, abuse and security incidents. Where legally permissible, relevant information may be preserved and shared with authorities or affected service providers.

16. Marketing Communications

WorkAbeg may send transactional and service communications necessary to operate an account. Marketing communications will provide applicable opt-out mechanisms where required. Users cannot necessarily opt out of essential security, legal, payment or transaction communications while continuing to use the corresponding service.

17. Children

WorkAbeg is intended only for persons aged 18 or older. Individuals under 18 may not create WorkAbeg accounts.

18. Corporate Transactions
